About
Hi my name is Cathy and I’d like to share with you a bit about my journey in becoming an artist. While I’ve always enjoyed creative pursuits since I was a child, it has been since I’ve retired from my practice as a psychotherapist that I began painting. While I love to capture memories on canvas and explore abstraction while loosing myself in the process, what really drives me is a desire to “do good with my art.” So while my career was about helping people, so too is my art!
I began painting mini florals for charity in 2020, first in response to the devastating wildfires in Australia that were occurring as I vacationed there. Then came the tornado that hit Nashville destroying lives and property. Friends and followers joined with me in raising funds for the recovery process. Next the worldwide pandemic escalated in March and I felt called to organize the Frontline Flower Shop with five local artists raising over $3K for nursing education. Currently sales of my florals are benefiting ALS research, a cause dear to me because my Father died of this terrible disease when I was just 8 years old.
My work reflects my love of travel rendered in acrylic, oil and cold wax. Monet, Picasso, Cassett and Kahlo are favorite artists alongside many aboriginal artists of Australia depicting their songlines.
I’m committed to the study of painting and have taken classes and workshops with some wonderful artists who have aided me in developing both my skills and my voice. I feel truly blessed to have this creative passion which has connected me with so many new friends and given me more reasons to travel!
I live on a farm in Theta, TN with my husband Ron and a whole managerie of animals. I enjoy hosting celebrations of all kinds for friends and family alike!
